 Cosmedix Deep Sea Peel

Cosmedix Deep Sea Herbal Peel is a medium-depth, acid-free peel. A potent, non-acid peel that uses sea herbs and plant extracts to help generate collagen and stimulate deeper changes in the skin. Effective at treating all skin conditions, including melasma/hyperpigmentation, acne, skin impurities, mild acne scarring, environmental / sun damage, premature ageing, fine lines, and wrinkles and helps to improve skin circulation. The Deep Sea can also be used on the body to treat stretch marks and cellulite.

Although it’s classed as a “peel” treatment, the modality in the way it works is much closer to micro-needling than a chemical peel. Although it causes a peeling effect, the stimulation is caused by physical micro-trauma to the skin. Microscopic silicates puncture the skin, causing micro-trauma, which ignites a strong vascular and inflammatory response within the skin.

Unlike traditional chemical peels that use acids to exfoliate the skin, the Cosmedix Deep Sea Peel is free from all acids. Instead of using acids to dissolve the intercellular bonds between skin cells and exfoliate the skin, it uses Coral and Seaweed Extract to stimulate immense activity and renewal within the skin. Improving blood flow, oxygen, and nutrient supply to the skin and assisting in renewal.

  • We begin by cleansing the skin and applying a preparation solution.

Next, we begin the peel. The treatment area is divided into sections and the peel is massaged into each area for 1-10 minutes (the time chosen is based on skin tolerance, the condition being treated and how many deep sea peels have been received previously).

During the treatment, you may feel heat and sharpness though some people don’t feel much sensation during the application. Once the peel is removed, we apply Cosmedix Rescue Balm.

Many people say it feels like prickles are being pushed lightly into the skin at this stage, this is the microscopic silicates that have been worked into the skin.

  • Recovery times after the Deep Sea Peel vary from 4-7 days.

During this period, it is normal to experience redness, heat, tingling, itchiness, pin-prick sensations (similar to sunburn) and peeling. Your skin will start to feel dry and tight before the peeling begins.

The amount of peeling varies for each client but we strongly encourage receiving this treatment with the expectation of 7 days of downtime. By day 14, the best results are seen.

  • Yes. This is a Level 3 peel, so the skin needs to be prepped before treatment. Using Retinol Serum and Tyrosinase inhibitor products prescribed by the clinic ensures the best results.

The length of time you prep will vary depending on your skin type and concern and will be decided by the skin therapist.

After the Deep Sea Peel, you must regularly apply Cosmedix Rescue Serum to assist in healing for the best results to be achieved.

Avoid sun exposure and anything that will produce excess heat, such as exercise and hot showers for the first 3 days.
